PRODUCTION

At Agrícola El Cerrito, approximately 118 hectares are used for fruit trees, including 93 hectares currently (24-25 season) planted with table grapes.

We exclusively produce table grapes for export, specifically the Timco™, Allison™, Ivory™, Great Green™, Sweet Celebration™, Sweet Favors™ and ItumFifteen varieties.

PHYTOSANITARY PROGRAM

At El Cerrito we use plant protection products to guarantee proper care of our plants and fruit, always prioritizing the lowest toxicity to safeguard the health of our employees and the community.

A large percentage of our fertilizers are of natural origin, and many are even used on organic crops.

EL CERRITO IN NUMBERS
Hectares: Approximately 118 hectares are used for fruit trees, including 93 hectares currently (24-25 season) planted with table grapes.
Exports: about 1,600 tons of grapes.
Workers: +200 in high season
OUR GRAPES

Table grape production is a year-round process, beginning in May with pruning and ending in April of the following year with post-harvest.

OUR ORGANIC GRAPES: PIONEERS IN NORTHERN CHILE

At Agrícola El Cerrito we launched an organic grape pilot program, allocating a total of six hectares, two to the Great Green variety and four to Allison.

Unlike conventional agriculture, organic farming uses no chemicals to combat pests, diseases and weeds and supplies no exogenous plant nutrition (i.e. no pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers). Instead, it relies purely on natural principles like composting and crop rotation to produce healthier, more abundant food.

Major milestone: The first organic grapes from this orchard were exported during the 2024-2025 season.

REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

Regenerative agriculture is a new way of farming, generating a more balanced biosystem, more sustainable production and offsetting the cost that agriculture has had on today’s planet.

At El Cerrito we expect to achieve three main objectives by 2030:

  1. Transform how we produce, using cover cropping and protecting the first layer of microorganisms.
  2. Create our own inputs, such as sufficient compost for our crops.
  3. Implement a self-supply system to add value to the ecosystem.
WATER MANAGEMENT

Responsible, efficient water use is always a priority for us. As a result, 100% of our fields have technical irrigation and recently incorporated modern telemetry and remote control systems, which reduces our water consumption throughout the production process. To irrigate our orchards, we use the water rights we own in the Elqui and Estero Derecho river basins.

Through highly efficient, storage systems, drip irrigation, remote irrigation control systems and telemetry systems in canals, we strive to uphold the highest water efficiency and sustainability standards.

TELEMETRY SYSTEMS

We have two state-of-the-art technologies that give us real-time information on climate, irrigation, soil moisture and water sources, helping us make the best agricultural decisions and continuous, measurable improvements to efficiently and sustainably use water resources, electricity and fertilizers.
